Oxford University has partnered with the Government of Balochistan to launch the Benazir Scholarship Program, offering talented students from Balochistan the opportunity to study STEM subjects at Oxford. This initiative aims to enhance educational prospects and socio-economic development in the region.

 

In a landmark development, Oxford University, one of the world’s most prestigious educational institutions, has opened its doors to students from Balochistan. This opportunity has been realized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Oxford Pakistan Program and the Government of Balochistan, establishing the Benazir Scholarship Program.

This scholarship initiative aims to provide talented students from Balochistan with the opportunity to pursue higher education in the STEM field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and mathematics at Oxford University. The MoU signing ceremony, a significant milestone in educational cooperation, took place at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, speaking at the ceremony, highlighted the government’s dedication to youth development and the creation of opportunities for talented students. “Providing opportunities for higher education to students from Balochistan under the Benazir Scholarship and Oxford Pakistan Program is a significant step,” he stated.

The Chief Minister emphasized their commitment to ensuring that even economically disadvantaged students from Balochistan can study at renowned institutions like Oxford University, where prominent figures such as the first female Prime Minister of the Islamic world, Benazir Bhutto, have studied.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti also made history as the first Chief Minister of Balochistan to address an audience at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University. His speech underscored the importance of educational opportunities for the socio-economic development of Balochistan.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, and 150 other distinguished delegates. This collaboration between Oxford University and the Government of Balochistan represents a significant step forward in enhancing educational prospects for the youth of Balochistan, paving the way for a brighter future.
