Former Islamabad High Court Judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui Seeks Inclusion of Military Officers in Removal Case

Former Islamabad High Court Judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has filed a petition to declare military officers, including former Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, former ISI DG Faiz Hameed, retired Brigadier Irfan Ramay, retired Brigadier Faisal Marwat, and retired Brigadier Taher Wafai as parties in his removal case. Additionally, the petition seeks to include former Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Anwar Kasi and former Supreme Court Registrar Arbab Arif as parties. During the hearing, the Supreme Court granted Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui a deadline to reveal the names of sensitive agency officers allegedly influencing the judicial process during his tenure as a judge. Chief Justice Justice Qazi Faez Isa emphasized the need for evidence and a fair hearing, expressing that good and bad individuals exist in every institution. The Chief Justice stated that if Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui had not been given a fair opportunity earlier, he would now have been provided with an opportunity to include in his petition those individuals whom he had accused of interference in judicial proceedings. The Chief Justice noted that the composition of the bench has changed, and new arguments will be heard. Justices Sardar Tariq Masood and Aijaz ul Ahsan, former members of the bench, decided on the formation of a new bench in their capacity as members of the Judges’ Committee. The Chief Justice also mentioned the positive transition towards democracy, both in the country and within the Supreme Court. The case’s hearing is scheduled to resume soon
